B2 · Lição 3: Voz Passiva Avançada

Objetivos da lição

  • Usar voz passiva com verbos modais e tempos compostos
  • Usar estruturas de "reporting" na passiva (it is said that...)
  • Usar "have something done" (causativo)

Explicação

Estrutura 1: It + is/was + said/believed/thought/reported + that + oração

It is said that the company is planning layoffs. → Diz-se que a empresa está planejando demissões. It was reported that the fire started in the kitchen.

Estrutura 2: Sujeito + is/was + said/believed/thought + to + verbo

The company is said to be planning layoffs. He is believed to be the richest man in the country.

2. Have/Get something done (voz causativa)

Estrutura: have/get + objeto + particípio passado

I had my hair cut yesterday. → Eu cortei o cabelo ontem. (alguém cortou para mim, no salão) She is getting her car repaired. → Ela está mandando consertar o carro. We had our house painted last month. → Mandamos pintar nossa casa mês passado.

Compare: "I cut my hair" (eu mesmo cortei) x "I had my hair cut" (alguém cortou para mim), a diferença de sentido é importante!

He had his wallet stolen. → A carteira dele foi roubada.

3. Passiva com dois objetos e verbos modais

Ativa: They should have finished the report by now. Passiva: The report should have been finished by now.

Ativa: People can't ignore climate change. Passiva: Climate change can't be ignored.

4. Passiva impessoal em textos acadêmicos

Muito comum para dar um tom formal, evitando "I" ou "we":

It has been shown that exercise improves mental health. Various studies have been conducted on this topic. → Vários estudos foram conduzidos sobre este tema.

Vocabulário: Verbos de reporting

believe, say, think, report, claim (alegar), consider (considerar), estimate (estimar), assume (presumir)

Prática

It is estimated that the project will cost $2 million. The new policy is said to affect thousands of workers. We had the contract reviewed by a lawyer before signing it, since it can't be modified after signing.
