C1 · Lição 1: Inversão e Estruturas de Ênfase
Objetivos da lição
- Usar inversão (inversion) para dar ênfase formal/literária
- Usar cleft sentences (it is... that / what... is) para destacar informação
- Reconhecer esses recursos em textos formais e discursos
Explicação
|---|---|
| Never | Never have I seen such a beautiful sunset. |
| Rarely | Rarely does she complain about her job. |
| Not only... but also | Not only did he apologize, but he also offered to pay for the damage. |
| No sooner...than | No sooner had I sat down than the phone rang. |
| Hardly...when | Hardly had she arrived when the meeting started. |
| Little | Little did he know that he would become famous. |
| Only after/then | Only after the accident did he realize the risk. |
| Under no circumstances | Under no circumstances should you share this password. |
Frase normal: I have never seen such a beautiful sunset. Com inversão (mais enfática/formal): Never have I seen such a beautiful sunset.
It-cleft: It is/was + elemento destacado + that/who...
It was Maria who organized the whole event. → Foi a Maria quem organizou todo o evento. (destaca "Maria") It wasn't until 2020 that the company started exporting.
Wh-cleft (What-cleft): What + oração + is/was + elemento destacado
What I really need is some rest. What surprised me most was his honesty.
3. Inversão em condicionais formais (sem "if")
Em registro formal/escrito, é possível omitir "if" e inverter a ordem:
| Com if (neutro) | Sem if (formal, invertido) |
|---|---|
| If I were you... | Were I you... |
| If you should need help... | Should you need help... |
| If she had known... | Had she known... |
Had I known about the traffic, I would have left earlier. (equivalente formal a "If I had known") Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
Never before had the company faced such a crisis. Not only did sales drop, but costs also rose sharply. Had the board acted sooner, the outcome might have been different. It was the CEO's decision that ultimately saved the business.
Exercícios
